Various factors affect the training programmes. The significant concern almost 32% of the pre-
sea and post-sea training instructors/faculty, company representatives, senior officers on board,
surveyors, administrators and examiners highlighted was that trainees are not interested in
training, 31% reported lack of time, 15% reported finance. Around 8% of respondents reported
that management takes no interest.

Working environment on board
Proper rest plays an essential role in effective working. Almost 58% of the junior officers on
board and ratings reported that they get sufficient rest hours, whereas 42% of respondents
reported that they do not get sufficient rest.
